During the 2015 legislative session, Arizona passed a significant education reform expansion to improve access to a great education for more students in the Grand Canyon state.

EMPOWERMENT SCHOLARSHIP ACCOUNTS
Arizona is a national leader in school choice and in April, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed the Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) expansion bill into law. Senate Bill 1332, sponsored by Senator Carlyle Begay, will provide eligibility for ESAs to students who live on Native American reservations. Arizona was the first state to adopt an ESA program. An ESA is an account established, with financial assistance from the state, to provide options for parents of eligible students to freely choose how and where to educate their children. ExcelinEd commends Governor Ducey for signing the Empowerment Scholarship Account expansion bill and for his commitment to securing a bright future for Arizona’s students.
