Gerard Robinson
Gerard Robinson is the Florida Commissioner of Education. Previously, he served as the Secretary of Education in Virginia. Prior to that, Commissioner Robinson was president of the Black Alliance for Educational Options, a national nonprofit, nonpartisan organization whose mission is to actively support parental choice to empower families and increase quality educational options for black children. A former teacher, Robinson has also served as a senior research associate for the School Choice Demonstration Project at the University of Arkansas and as a senior fellow at the Institute for the Transformation of Learning at Marquette University. Robinson received an associate’s degree from El Camino Community College, undergraduate degree from Howard University and a master’s degree from Harvard University. He is married and has three daughters.
