John Thrasher

John Thrasher is a Florida State Senator, elected in 2009.  Previously, he served 8 years in the Florida House of Representatives and served as Speaker of the House from 1998 – 2000.  A former U.S. Army Captain and recipient of the Army Commendation Medal and two Bronze Stars, Thrasher graduated from Florida State University College of Law. He has served as General Counsel of the Florida Medical Association, as Of Counsel to the Jacksonville law firm of Smith Hulsey & Busey, and as a partner of Southern Strategy Group, a Tallahassee-based governmental relations firm. John and his wife, Jean, have three children and eight grandchildren.
