Statement: Governor Jeb Bush on Pick for Florida’s Commissioner of Education

Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Jeb Bush, founder and chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education (ExcelinEd), released the following statement on Governor-Elect Ron DeSantis’ selection of Richard Corcoran as Florida Commissioner of Education.

“I commend Governor-Elect DeSantis for his forward-thinking selection of Richard Corcoran as Florida’s next Commissioner of Education. Richard is one of the state’s most experienced leaders and has long been a trailblazer in education reform.

“Richard will fearlessly challenge the entrenched status quo to ensure that every student has access to a high quality education. He is a champion of high-quality teaching and parent empowerment, and is a passionate advocate for expanding opportunity, especially for children most at risk.

“Governor-elect DeSantis and Commissioner Corcoran will build on Governor Scott’s legacy and ensure Florida remains a national leader in raising student achievement. I could not be more optimistic about the road ahead for Florida’s students, parents and teachers.”
