South Carolina Families Will Have Fewer Learning Options After Court Ruling

South Carolina

Statement by Patricia Levesque, Chief Executive Officer, Foundation for Excellence in Education, on decision by the South Carolina Supreme Court.

“This is disappointing for hundreds of families who do not have the financial capacity to attend schools that would provide their children with a learning environment that best fits their needs.

“Despite this setback, I want to thank Governor Henry McMaster, our friends at the Palmetto Promise Institute and many other partners and policymakers who work every day to provide access to educational options for all South Carolina families.

“While the court decision today ends this effort for CARES funding, I have faith that South Carolina’s leaders will continue to work toward making sure no family is denied an educational opportunity based on their income.”

ExcelinEd submitted an Amicus Curiae brief  in the legal case, supporting South Carolina families seeking better learning options.
