Statement by Patricia Levesque, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, on today’s decision by the Tennessee Supreme Court in favor of students and families seeking educational options that are out of their financial reach:

“Empowering parents with educational options is a vital resource for students to access the education they deserve. The Supreme Court’s decision today is a victory for students, families and all stakeholders who value education.”

“In states around the country, policies like the Tennessee Education Savings Account Pilot Program have provided opportunities to families that do not have the financial ability to find a different educational option.

“We look forward to working with Governor Bill Lee and Commissioner Penny Schwinn as they implement this exciting new learning option for students, families and educators in Nashville and Memphis. We hope success there will expand learning options to all Tennessee families.”
