A Year of Progress

So much was accomplished this year, it’s difficult to capture it all. It is why I remain hopeful and eager for 2023 – a year fresh with new opportunities to help every child reach their full potential.

The optimism I feel isn’t without significant concern for our nation’s students, who witnessed staggering drops in math and reading scores over the past two years. But I remain confident, because I know the impact of our work matters. Policy changes lives, with the power to literally unlock untold possibilities for every child.

Certainly none of our work is accomplished alone. This is a student-centered movement that I am humbled to be a part of. In collaboration with our many dedicated partners, we accomplished so much together in 2022: closing digital divides, creating new educational opportunities, enacting evidence-based early literacy policies, strengthening college and career pathways and so much more.

The year ahead holds great promise for continuing that work. Yet no policymaker, advocate or organization can do it alone. We need support to make meaningful progress. As you consider how to make an impact in 2023, know that improving America’s education system is a powerful way to change lives, transform communities and strengthen our nation. Please join us.

Sincerely,
