Students can earn valuable college credit while in high school through college acceleration opportunities. You are likely familiar with their names—Advanced Placement (AP), Cambridge (AICE), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), dual enrollment, early college high schools and International Baccalaureate (IB). But did you know that these college acceleration opportunities improve students’ chances of graduating high school, enrolling in college and earning postsecondary credentials?

Even while college acceleration opportunities yield encouraging benefits for students, there remain troubling gaps in quality, value, equity and accessibility. ExcelinEd now as two college acceleration policy playbooks to help states address these concerns and reach every student with these life-changing opportunities!

Our first college acceleration playbook identifies a series of non-negotiables that states, colleges, universities and schools can use to strengthen their college acceleration programs to benefit all students—especially those who have been traditionally underserved.

Today, we are pleased to release our second playbook, College Acceleration in Action: Five School Perspectives. This new playbook examines how five schools are putting these non-negotiables into practice and shares insights on how school leaders and state policymakers can improve college acceleration opportunities for all students.
