Kim Preston is the Director of Development for Excelined.
Previously, she served as ExcelinEd’s Midwest Regional Advocacy Director. Kim has spent the better part of 20 years working in public service and politics, but discovered her passion for education during her tenure as the Director of Workforce and Education Initiatives in the Indianapolis Mayor’s Office and later at the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE). She was at the helm of IDOE’s communications and legislative team in the months leading up to and during the 2011 session when Indiana passed a comprehensive education reform agenda. Kim also served as Legislative Assistant for U.S. Senator Dick Lugar and credits her interest in public service and policy to the communications role she played in Indianapolis Mayor Steve Goldsmith’s administration, her first job after obtaining her B.A. in Communications from Purdue University. Kim also holds a M.A. in Journalism and Public Affairs from Indiana University.
