Tyler Bonin is the Director of Policy Communications for ExcelinEd. In this role, he develops and leads a communications strategy that promotes ExcelinEd’s policy agenda by collaborating with policy experts to promote the organization’s research, publications, tools, and thought leadership. He previously served as the Civics Education Specialist at the Goldwater Institute’s Van Sittert Center for Constitutional Advocacy, where he developed the organization’s first podcast with national guests.
Tyler previously managed marketing efforts at State Policy Network, and he was the Director of Marketing for the Classic Learning Test (CLT). While at CLT, Tyler created and produced the Anchored podcast, a top-ranked program focused on conversations at the nexus of education and culture, with such guests as Cornel West, Robert P. George, Heather Mac Donald, Glenn Loury, and more.
Early in his career, Tyler taught and developed curricula at Thales Academy, a network of private classical academies in the Southeastern United States, and he was a lecturer at Judson College at Southeastern. During this time, he was also a contributor on education topics for such publications as The Atlantic and The Wall Street Journal. Tyler lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his partner, Cristina.
Tyler is a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and he holds degrees from Campbell University and Duke University.
