Joey Alongi is the Senior Advocacy Associate for the Southeast Region for ExcelinEd. In this capacity, he aids the advancement of student-centered policies in Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky and Georgia. Along with the Director of the Southeast Region and regional coalition partners, Joey supports policymakers in improving student success in each regional state.
Prior to joining ExcelinEd, Joey worked as a lobbyist and grassroots manager with the Tennessee Medical Association, spearheading healthcare policy priorities in the Tennessee General Assembly. He also supported the goals of the organization by utilizing the TMA’s grassroots network to advocate healthcare concerns. Joey has a long background in political and corporate campaigns managing candidates in Tennessee, California, and Oregon at the local, state, and federal level. He also worked as an advisor for corporate clients, helping them bridge the gap between governments to support their goals.
Originating in Northern California, Joey is a proud University of Oregon alumni and an active member of the Music City Ducks Oregon Alumni Association in Nashville where he currently lives. When he is not working, Joey can be found enjoying the beautiful state and national parks in Tennessee or at one of the many concerts in Music City.
