Ji Soo Song is the Policy Director, AI & EdTech at the Foundation for Excellence in Education (ExcelinEd), where he develops, advances, and implements educational technology and artificial intelligence policy solutions at the state and federal levels. He leads efforts to shape forward-looking policies that enhance student learning, strengthen instructional practice, and ensure the safe, responsible use of digital tools in K-12 education.

Ji Soo’s expertise is grounded in his national service, including his tenure as a Digital Equity Advisor and Federation of American Scientists Impact Fellow at the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology. In this capacity, he led the Department’s key efforts to bridge the digital access divide, organized the landmark National Digital Equity Summit, and supported the development of the 2024 National Educational Technology Plan. Previously, as Director of Projects and Initiatives at SETDA, he successfully supported over 40 state education agencies with initiatives focused on digital access, edtech procurement, and AI. Earlier in his career, he advanced digital learning policy at ISTE and provided direct classroom support and instruction as an AmeriCorps member with City Year DC.

Organizations including UNESCO, the U.S. Department of Education, ISTE+ASCD, and Digital Promise have featured Ji Soo’s writing and research. He is currently a member of the American Innovation Policy Forum’s Digital Frontiers Council and a former Institute for Educational Leadership Education Policy Fellow. He has served on the boards of City Year DC, the Title IV-A Coalition, and the National Coalition for Technology in Education and Training. He holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.Ed. in Education Policy and Leadership from American University, and will begin American University’s Education Doctorate in Education Policy and Leadership program in fall 2026.
