Kelley Bendheim is the Policy Director for Early Literacy at ExcelinEd.

Kelley began her career in education as a teacher in 1996 in Virginia and went on to serve in North Carolina as an educator, interventionist, instructional coach and district-level director of the Office of Early Learning before joining the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) as a regional literacy consultant. Kelley most recently served as Assistant Director of Early Literacy at NCDPI supporting the statewide implementation of North Carolina’s comprehensive literacy legislation, the Excellent Public Schools Act.

Kelley earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Education from James Madison University, a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction as well as a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership degree from Appalachian State University.
