“Today’s Supreme Court decision represents an important victory for students, not just in Maine but all across the country, who deserve access to every and all educational options. We hope policymakers across the country look at this decision and enact meaningful change that will allow all students to use their education funding to access any school, regardless of whether it’s public or private.”
In today’s opinion, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Maine’s education program on grounds that the state violated the constitutional rights of students by denying student’s the right to use the program to access private religious schools. The opinion is another important victory in a wave of cases that continue to grant more educational freedom to parents and students.
